QuTheatr Hosts Monthly Queer Gatherings in Hopes of Creating Original Performance Piece in 2022

QuTheatr is a multigenerational initiative to foster relationships and produce theatre created by and meant for LGBTQIA+ people. Its newest project, Pride 365 is a community-driven performance crafted from stories collected during monthly queer gatherings throughout the city. This multi-event happening will be a safe space for sharing, bringing together generations of artists and nonartists who identify as LGBTQIA+.

Pride 365 is an opportunity to explore our city, meet other queer individuals, and have ongoing meaningful conversations about the importance of language, setting boundaries, and the types of lives we want to lead. Beginning with social events and leading into more theatre-focused workshops, this project will pair actors with non-actors with the goal of bringing people from outside the art world into the creative process. Inspired by Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, QuTheatr will dramatize the real experiences of people in Akron as a production to be performed in the summer of 2022.
